The Shire of Dun Ard is located in eastern Kansas, in the Leavenworth and Atchison Counties. We are
affiliated with the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
We are historical re-enactors of life prior to 1605 AD. However, it would be more accurate to describe us
as re-creationists rather than re-enactors because we normally do not re-enact any specific event in
history. We re-create many of the arts and sciences that have long been forgotten. This includes
metallurgy, armory, woodworking, weaving, cooking, oh and of course, fighting.
We do this, first and foremost, for fun.
Our shire is also available for demonstrations at local schools, Girl/Boy Scout events, and any other
organizations interested in learning more about the Middle Ages and/or early Renaissance. Scheduling
may be limited due to the fact that all of our members are volunteers and have regular jobs or attend
school.
